Delta Electronics Debuts IPM04C/IPM12C Power Modules

February 03, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Delta Electronics Inc. (Taipei, Taiwan) introduced its new IPM04C and IPM12C non-isolated, fully integrated, cost-effective, point-of-load (POL) power modules into the Delphi Series of board-mounted dc-dc power converters. The Delphi Series IPM04C/IPM12C family of product provides up to 6 A or 20 W of output current/power in a compact, industry-standard, IC-like, molded package.

The IPM04C and IPM12C units are highly integrated POLs that need no external components to provide POL function. The devices operate from either a 3 V to 5.5 V (IPM04C) or an 8 V to 14 V (IPM12C) source, and provide a wide range of output voltages from 0.8 V to 5 V (IPM12C). The units are available in either a SMD or SIP package. A copper pad on the back of the module, when in close contact with internal heat dissipation components, provides excellent thermal performance, as well as high reliability under stressful operating conditions. The assembly process of the modules is fully automated with no manual assembly involved.

The IC-like IPM04C and IPM12C units offer high efficiency of up to 94% at full load, will meet MSL Level 3, and are lead-free process compatible. RoHS and lead-free compliant samples will be available soon. The Delphi Series IPM04C/IPM12C POL converter samples are available now. In OEM quantities of 1,000 pieces, pricing is $6.50 for the IPM04C and $5.25 for the IPM12C. Standard lead time is from stock to eight weeks, depending on the volume.
