Absopulse Announces Dual-output, 100W Power Supply with Universal AC-input for Railway Environments

November 28, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics’ MIW 152R Series dual-output, railway quality ac-dc power supplies utilize high efficiency power conversion topology to deliver 100W output power. These units meet the requirements of EN 50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock. Conducted and radiated EMI meet EN55022 Class B, EN50121-4, EN61000 and related standards, ensuring minimum interference to sensitive electronic equipment. These power supplies are suitable for a range of railway applications, including signaling and communications.

MIW 152R Series provides any voltage from 3.3 to 110Vdc on V1 and any voltage from 3.3-24Vdc/3Amax on V2. Both outputs are individually regulated, floating and isolated from each other; they have 1000V isolation between the outputs and 4300Vdc input to output isolation. Output "ON" condition is indicated by a green LED. These units accept a universal ac on the input. Other input and output values as well as an output fail alarm are available on request.

These units are heavily ruggedized, conformal coated, and housed in a compact, vented enclosure that measures 114 x 58 x 256 mm. They meet EN61373/IEC61373 shock and vibration standards.

The MIW 152R Series operates at full specification (no de-rating) over a -25°C to +55°C cold-plate temperature range. Extended temperature ranges are available on request. Cooling is by conduction to customer heat-sink or chassis and by natural convection – the units require no fans. Efficiency at full load ranges between 80 and 90%, depending on input/output configuration. Generous design headroom, full electronic protection and the exclusive use of designed-in components with established reliability result in a high MTBF and ultimately, low life cycle costs of the units.

Each MIW 152R unit is priced in the US$180 range in quantities of 100.
