WPT/Electrotek Wins NYSERDA Contract

December 15, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Electrotek Concepts (Edison, NJ), part of the WPT Inc. (Edison, NJ) family of companies, has been awarded a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) contract to evaluate and pilot test a range of nitrogen oxide (NOx) control technologies for distributed generators operating in the New York metropolitan region. The multi-agency program enhances the state's ability to respond to peak-electricity demand with various load-reduction measures.

Under the terms of the NYSERDA contract, Electrotek will identify and evaluate a portfolio of NOx control technologies for use with stationary diesel (distributed) generators. Each technology will be evaluated in terms of technical, economic and environmental performance, as well as technology maturity. After the technologies are evaluated and ranked, Electrotek will select several sites for field installation and pilot testing of the most promising technologies. The customer sites chosen for the pilot will represent between 4MW to 6MW of generating capacity.
