January 03, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Siemens Wind Power GmbH announced that Dirk Wernicke will take over the post of Managing Director and Head of Engineering. Together with Gernot Ziegeldecker as Head of Commercial Administration, this completes the new managing team. The company is responsible for sales and service of Siemens wind turbines on the German market.

"Our strength lies in a mixture of know-how gained from years of experience in this field, proven technology and close proximity to our customers", said Wernicke. "We, as a company headquartered in Bremen, still focus a major part of our energy on the German market. We also aim to use our local strengths to support our customers by provid-ing convincing solutions for new markets."

The new managing director, Dirk Wernicke is succeeding Norbert Giese, who is leaving the company at his own request. As of 1999 Giese held the post of Managing Director of AN Windenergie GmbH, with this company acquired by Siemens in November 2005.

"We would like to thank Norbert Giese for the excellent discharge of his duties over the past eight years and wish him all the very best for the future", said Wernicke. Giese will continue to assist Siemens Wind Power GmbH in a consulting capacity.
