Siemens Solar Announces First Earthsafe Solar Energy System Installment

April 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Siemens Solar Industries LP (Camarillo, CA) announced that its first earthsafe solar energy system has been installed in Los Angeles by GO Solar Co. (North Hollywood, CA) for a San Fernando Valley home. The installation was the first home in Los Angeles to qualify for the LA Department of Water and Power's (LADWP, Los Angeles, CA) $5.00 per watt, solar energy buy-down incentive program. Qualified LADWP customers are able to receive a rebate, substantially reducing the cost of the earthsafe solar electric system.

Graham Owen, owner of GO Solar Company states, “Now that the earthsafe system has been installed, the homeowner is saving about 40 percent of the home's power usage." Owen added, “The processing of the permit took about 15 minutes and the installation was done in a day; it was a very smooth and easy process."

“Our earthsafe systems were developed with ease-of-installation in mind, from permitting through installation," stated Chet Farris, COO of Siemens Solar Industries. “And now with offered rebates, it simply makes economic sense. Environmentally speaking, the homeowner is reducing dependence on fossil fuels and demands on the grid."
