Quantum Awarded Automotive Fuel Cell Contract

June 02, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. (Irvine, CA) announced that it has been awarded a $1.4 million contract by a major automotive OEM to develop a unique fuel cell vehicle hydrogen fuel delivery system. The technology adaptation will allow precise flow of hydrogen into the vehicle's fuel cell power module, enabling optimized system performance. The technology incorporates Quantum's patented gaseous fuel injector and proprietary control software.

The design of this proprietary fuel delivery system is based on Quantum's expertise in advanced gaseous fuel metering and control technologies, and is targeted to meet stringent automotive safety and performance standards, and ultimately consumer performance and driveability expectations for fuel cell vehicles.

"We continue to expand Quantum's hydrogen product portfolio by applying our technologies and expertise in new, innovative ways," stated Alan Niedzwiecki, president and CEO. "I believe that this unique fuel delivery system has the potential to be standard equipment on production fuel cell vehicles as the industry matures and moves toward wider spread commercialization."
