September 16, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Microsemi Corp. (Irvine, CA) has completed its acquisition of Compensated Devices Inc. (CDI, Melrose, MA) and New England Semiconductor (NES, Lawrence, MA).

The acquisitions are expected to strengthen Microsemi's position in the growing military, space and medical markets with space- and military-qualified Schottky diodes and high-reliability bipolar transistors. Both companies are JAN-S certified and MIL-S-19500 qualified.

"The acquisitions of NES and CDI enhance our opportunities to achieve our goals for top-line growth and capacity utilization as a result of recent stronger military/aerospace market conditions and our program to enhance capacity utilization," said Jim Peterson, Microsemi president and CEO.
