Linear Files Lawsuit Against Monolithic Power Systems

August 07, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. filed a lawsuit against Monolithic Power Systems Inc., which is claimed to have breached a settlement agreement and infringed on patents held by Linear.

The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleging that Monolithic has breached a settlement agreement that had concluded a prior investigation of Monolithic by the International Trade Commission (ITC). The ITC decision had been based on a determination that Monolithic had infringed on patents held by Linear.

The complaint also alleges that Monolithic is once again infringing on the patents that were the subject of the prior investigation, and it requests "permanent injunctive relief" against Monolithic's alleged infringement and financial damages that are not specified. Monolithic has not released a statement in response as of yet.
