Agere Systems Provides ASICs to Lucent Technologies

Agere Systems Inc. (Allentown, PA) announced that it is providing seven different types of application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for Lucent Technologies' widely deployed Metropolis® DMX portfolio of data-enhanced multiplexers. Agere also provides ASICs for the successful DDM-2000 and FT-2000 optical multiplexers.

"Agere has played a key role in the success of the Metropolis® DMX and DDM-2000 platforms," said Jay Fahey, general manager for metro access systems at Lucent Technologies. "The company's ASIC expertise helped get our product to market faster, allowing us to take advantage of the market opportunities for this new system and helping our customers quickly get the benefits of Lucent's next-generation, multi-service platform."
