Zetex Releases the ZXSC100 Single-Cell DC/DC Converter

November 28, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Zetex (Oldham, UK) is now offering a single-cell dc/dc converter designed for applications in which step-up conversion from a very low input voltage is required. Named the ZXSC100, the converter operates from a single NiCd or NiMH cell with an efficiency of greater than 83 percent, which is maintained even as the battery voltage falls below one volt.

The circuit will start under full load conditions and maintains regulation down to an input voltage of only 0.93V. The ZXSC100 offers a programmable output voltage, which can be set to anywhere between the input battery voltage and the maximum Vce rating of the pass transistor. The circuit can also be configured to support a wide output power range, up to and beyond 2W.

The ZXSC100 is available in an MSOP8 package.
