Yokowo Adds Compact Model to Line of Two Piece Battery Connectors with Two-Way Insertion Capability

January 17, 2012 by Jeff Shepard

Yokowo announced that its two piece battery connectors has expanded and now will include a compact version. Featuring two less blades than the original 6-blade type, the new 4 blade model is designed to also allow for flexibility for both horizontal and vertical blade insertion. The compact size has also resulted in a reduction in pitch (from 3 to 2.5mm).

To ensure a constant connection, the receptacle side features dual beam contact in both insertion directions. Two tabs are uniquely fitted on the receptacle to provide a secure grip around the blade upon insertion. Biaxial torsion and a floating function absorb the battery gap, and reduce the risk of intermittent power outages (even if the device is dropped).

This two piece battery connector is well suited for use in devices where uninterrupted power is critical, including but not limited to cellphones, mobile devices, GPS units, tablet PCs, and any type of handheld portable unit that is operated in a harsh environment. The 4 blade type is capable of handling high rated currents of up to 2A per blade.

Yokowo’s compact two piece battery connector features a 30mΩ maximum (initial) contact resistance, operating temperatures ranging from -40 to +85°C, voltage of 12V ac-dc and operational durability of 2,000 cycles. The plug side is 2.2 x 2.6 x 7mm and the receptacle side is 3 x 2.5 x 8.8 mm. Each blade consists of four contacts with a 2.5mm pitch.

As the world’s largest spring connector manufacturer, Yokowo offers a wide range of standard and custom pogo pins and connectors. Space saving and low profile spring pin designs are available for maximum design freedom.
