Moltech Power Systems Announces EMT 2000Cs NiMH Batteries

February 11, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Moltech Power Systems (Gainesville, FL) has expanded its product family with a new NiMH Cs cell designed for high-temperature applications and back-up systems, such as emergency lights, micro-cellular base stations and uninterruptible power supply for computers and other equipment. Moltech claims that the new EMT 2000Cs NiMH offers more capacity, enhanced performance and high temperatures and longer runtimes than the NiCd batteries traditionally used in high-temperature applications.

"We recognized the need for a higher-capacity cell suitable for high-temperature devices, and we knew that our NiMH technology would be well-suited for these applications," said Moltech Product Manager Dave Baggaley. "Additionally, there was a need for an environmentally preferred alternative to NiCd batteries. With no added cadmium, NiMH is a non-hazardous technology, making it the ideal alternative."

Moltech will begin production of the EMT 2000 Cs high-temperature cell on March 1, 2001. Samples are currently available upon request.
