Bourns Releases CHF Series Power Resistors/Terminations

Bourns Inc. (Riverside, CA) released a new line of high-frequency power resistors and terminations, the CHF Series, which are suitable for use in radio-frequency and microwave applications, including high-power amplifiers, isolators, Wilkinson combiners, power dividers, and absorptive filters. Construction material consists of either an aluminum nitride or beryllium body with a proprietary resistor element. Package styles include chip, surface-mount, and flanged.

The devices are optimized for 50 Ω characteristic impedance using special manufacturing techniques to reduce voltage standing wave ratio. Power ratings range from 10 W to 250 W, with a low return loss up to 4 GHz.

Pricing for the surface-mount chips ranges from $0.7 to $1.20, depending on the size and power rating for a quantity of 10,000 pieces.
