Reading IEC Standard ? ONLY A DREAM

I'm looking for an advice from experienced engineers on the best way to read a standard.

-What should be the procedure to be followed to master a standard?
-What should I focus on while reading it?
-When to refer to the standard and forget the internet?

For example , I got handle of all IEC standards , however, it seems to be too loosy with too much text. whilst , I could get the same info from the internet in 2.3 secs :D . So Kindly, enlight me with your knowledge on the best route to master standards.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, but then you should check the accuracy of the info you got.
From my little experience, If you need to design a product compliant with some standards, you need to study the standard the same way you studied the texts for the university exams.

True, I was looking for a good method to effectively get good grasp of the content of the standard and main points, these standards have lots of definitions and side details to the extend that one need to completely read a part of the standard to extract the main points.
