Intersil Consolidates California Operations

October 06, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced that it is consolidating its West Coast facilities, moving its corporate headquarters from Irvine to Milpitas, CA. The move, which will be effective December 1, 2002, will consolidate corporate and administrative functions. Design and marketing functions will remain at the current Irvine location.

"We believe that it is more efficient to consolidate corporate and administrative functions into our larger Milpitas operation while maintaining local marketing and design functions in Irvine," said Intersil President and CEO Rich Beyer.

The company reported that a small reduction in its workforce would take place, with the company cutting an undisclosed number of its corporate and administrative employees at the Irvine location. The Irvine operation currently employs 30 people, with about 225 employed at the Milpitas facility.
