Astris Energi Seeks Commercial Fuel Cell Partners

December 01, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Astris Energi Inc. (Mississauga, ON) is holding discussions with several possible strategic partners, both in the US and abroad, which have resources sufficient to aid the company in its drive to achieve volume production and global marketing of its fully developed and tested electric energy generators. Jiri Nor, president, told Astris shareholders that it is hoped that negotiations currently underway will soon lead to such a partnership.

Nor also reported that notable technical progress has been made over the past year with the company's first commercial fuel cell, the POWERSTACK MC250, which has advanced to the prototype stage and is currently undergoing a rigorous testing program. The cell's initial performance was 36 percent beyond the design projection. Another advanced fuel cell system, the E7 fuel cell generator, is being developed by the company's Czech Republic subsidiary in a joint project partially funded by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. This project is slated for completion in mid-2002.
