Ansoft Releases New SIwave v1.1 Software

March 06, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Ansoft Corp. (Pittsburgh, PA) released its new SIwave™ v1.1 software at the Design Automation and Test in Europe conference in Munich, Germany. SIwave, simulation software for the advanced modeling of leading-edge integrated circuit (IC) packages and printed circuit boards (PCBs), meets the growing demand for fast and accurate signal-integrity and power-integrity analysis.

Using a hybrid, finite-element technique, SIwave allows design engineers to characterize simultaneous switching noise, power and ground bounce, resonances, reflections and coupling between traces, and power/ground planes. Engineers also use the software to simulate high-speed devices with

their own driver/receiver models using SIwave's SPICE output to obtain accurate system-level simulations.

"Engineers who design high-speed boards and packages face exceptional challenges," stated Ansoft Chairman and Chief Technology

Officer Zoltan Cendes. "As these devices get smaller and faster, having an accurate and

efficient design methodology is essential for producing reliable products."
