Microchip Technology Expands PICmicro Family

May 19, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Microchip Technology Inc. (Chandler, AZ) expanded its PIC18F family of microcontrollers in 64-pin and 80-pin TQFP packages to include a low-cost 32Kb memory device. The PIC18F6520 and PIC18F8520 microcontrollers feature PMOS electrically erasable cell process technology. The devices offer cost-effective solutions for general-purpose applications, such as automotive, consumer, industrial, motor control and telecommunications.

The PIC18F6520 and PIC18F8520 feature an analog-to-digital converter with up to 16 channels; five capture/compare/pulse-width modulation modules; up to 10 MIPS performance at 10MHz; two eight-bit timers, three 16-bit timers and one watch-dog timer; dual analog comparators; a parallel slave port; an operating voltage range of 2V to 5.5V; programmable brown-out detection/reset; programmable 16-level, low-voltage detection module, 32kHz secondary oscillator clock input; and a 4x phase lock loop for high-frequency oscillators.

Samples and volume production are available now.
