University of Michigan to Sponsor Fuel Cell Course

The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan will be sponsoring a new short course entitled, "An Introduction to the Science and Engineering of Fuel Cells and Fuel Processors," from August 7-9, 2002, in Ann Arbor, MI.

Topics to be covered include: types of fuel cells; electrochemistry and electronics fundamentals; electrolytes and ion-conducting membranes; thermodynamics and energy balances; electrode properties; bipolar plates and cell stacks; fuels; fuel processor designs; internal and external processing; fuel processor catalysis; and system integration. System issues, efficiencies, modeling and safety will also be featured.

The cost of the course is $1,395.
