Suncor Energy/EHN Wind Project Receives Approval

September 04, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Suncor Energy Products Inc. (Canada), a subsidiary of Suncor Energy Inc., and EHN Wind Power Canada Inc. announced that they have received approval from the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board to construct a $48 million, 30MW wind power project. The project, to be located about 6km west of Magrath in southern Alberta, is a joint venture between Suncor and EHN.

Construction is expected to begin work in mid-September 2003, with the 20-turbine facility to be online by late 2004. Suncor and EHN plan to sell the power into the provincial electricity grid and the project is expected to generate enough energy to meet the equivalent demands of about 13,000 homes. When completed, the Magrath Wind Power Project would be Suncor's second major investment in wind power.
