November 03, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Pepco Energy Services Inc. (Ralington, VA), a subsidiary of Pepco Holdings Inc. and a leader in renewable electricity initiatives in the mid-Atlantic region, has signed agreements to supply electricity generated from renewable sources to the US Departments of Interior, Labor and Transportation.

Under an existing contract with the General Services Administration, Pepco Energy Services will supply over 10 million kilowatt-hours of Green-E certified power to the three federal departments through May 2004. Twenty-five percent of the green energy supplied under these contracts comes from regional wind generators and 75% from landfill gas electric generators.

Pepco Energy Services will supply nearly 7.2 million kilowatt-hours of Green-E certified electricity to the Department of Transportation, 2.5 million kilowatt-hours of Green-E certified renewable energy to the Department of Labor, and approximately 470,000 kilowatt-hours of Green-E certified power to the Department of Interior. Pepco Energy Services' agreement with the Department of Transportation covers the 11 months beginning in June 2003, and its agreements with the Departments of Interior and Labor are for the eight months beginning in September 2003.
