Kyocera Releases New Solar Package

March 18, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Kyocera Corp. (San Diego, CA) announced that it will offer a new solar power generation system, the Solar Power Plant III, in April 2004. The system is comprised of solar modules and a power conditioner of improved performance, recently developed for the public and industrial markets by Kyocera's Solar Energy Division.

The company reported that its new module boasts a 13.98-percent module conversion efficiency and 178.6 W output. The module has increased output while maintaining the same outside dimensions as that of the conventional Kyocera model, the 167 W module. Therefore, a standard unit (10 kW), which formerly consisted of 60 sheets for the 167 W module, can now be made with 56 sheets for the new module.
