The Dow Jones Sustainability Index

RobecoSAM’s Sustainability Yearbook is published and for countries to have a chance of being listed in the Yearbook, they must be within the top 15% of their industry and achieve a score within 30% of their industry's top-performing company.

The Dow Jones Sustainability family of Indices (DJSI) measures the performance of companies concerning governance, social, and environmental criteria with the best-in-class approach. The indices act as a management tool and help provide a guide to companies by benchmarking performance across the industry. This enables them to assess their progress so that they can reach their desired sustainability goals. The DJSI is not only important to companies and businesses worldwide, but also to investors that use it to make important investment decisions.

Infineon’s Ongoing Commitment

Infineon endeavors to keep its track record for green-conscious business operations going and has set a carbon neutrality goal as the next step toward protecting the environment. The company also aims to contribute to the targets set out in the Paris Climate Agreement. With the company’s products and solutions, 35 times more CO2 emissions can be saved over their lifetime than the amount of  CO2 emissions generated during production.

Chief Financial Officer at Infineon, Dr. Sven Schneider provided his comments on how the company intends to go on.

“We are pleased and proud of being acknowledged as one of the top sustainable companies in the world. At the same time, it is also an encouragement to continuously develop our processes and improve our sustainability,” Schneider said. “At the beginning of the year, Infineon has committed itself to becoming CO 2-neutral by 2030, thus taking the next strategic step towards more climate protection.”

As the company looks ahead and plans to grow production, it will also continue to endeavor to cut CO2 emissions. By 2025 Infineon hopes to reduce emissions by 70% compared with the 2019 levels. To achieve this, the company will be taking a three-pronged approach. This will involve avoiding direct emissions and the reduction of energy consumption. Secondly, green electricity purchased by Infineon must come with guarantees of origin for unavoidable emissions.
