October 29, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

General Motors Corp. (GM, Detroit, MI) and ChevronTexaco Corp. (San Francisco, CA) announced that the two companies will work together to develop a fuel cell vehicle that runs on gasoline. GM plans to produce gasoline fuel cells, which can also dramatically reduce emissions and increase fuel economy.

"Car technology is changing, and we need to work to modify our fuels for use in fuel cell vehicles," stated Gary Masada of ChevronTexaco.
