Ceres Power Makes Propane Fuel Cell Breakthrough

October 12, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Ceres Power Ltd. (Bristol, UK), a developer of fuel cell products for the distributed power generation market, announced that it has made a breakthrough by constructing a fuel cell that will run on propane. The company reported that in tests the fuel cell generated a continuous supply of electricity in the 250 W to 400 W range. Ceres Power said a power generator fed by bottled gas could be used to power telecom base stations, or the needs of construction sites.

Product Development Director Andrew Baker said, "This is another crucial milestone in our development program, proving not only that our cell will work with a range of readily available fuels, but also that Ceres has the expertise to produce integrated power systems for its target markets."
