October 12, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Altair Nanotechnologies Inc. (Reno, NV), a developer of advanced ceramic nanomaterial technology, announced plans to open a plant in Anderson, NV, that will employ up to 100 people in the design and manufacture of lithium-ion batteries and electronics for hybrid vehicles. Altair was lured to Anderson, in part, by a $1.53 million incentives package from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

Altair recently reported that it has already hired 11 battery experts and specialists, mainly former Delphi Corp. and General Motors employees, to develop new lithium battery technologies. Altair will place research and development operations in a 4,000 ft² space in the Business Development Center.
