Fairchild Offers FS8S0765RC Power Switch

October 20, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. (South Portland, ME) introduced the FS8S0765RC Fairchild Power Switch (FPS), a highly integrated off-line power switch for CRT monitor, fly-back power supply applications. The device integrates a fully avalanche-rated SenseFET (650V minimum breakdown rating) with a current-mode PWM IC featuring primary side regulation. Featuring burst-mode operation for standby mode (under 2W at 265Vac), the new FS8S0765RC lowers power consumption by reducing switching loss.

The FS8S0765RC’s internal features include over-voltage, overload, over-current and thermal shutdown protection. To eliminate the screen noise generated by switching action, the FS8S0765RC turns on its internal MOSFET synchronously with the external sync signal. The FS8S0765RC FPS offers an integrated fixed oscillator, under-voltage lockout, optimized blanking and a gate turn-on/turn-off driver, as well as temperature-compensated, precision current sources for loop compensation and fault-protection circuitry.

The FS8S0765RC is available in a space-saving, TO-220-5L package. Pricing is $1.50 for 1,000 pieces. Available now, delivery is in eight weeks ARO.
