This article features Allegro Microsystems' ALS31000, a unidirectional linear Hall sensor integrated circuit for automotive and industrial applications.

Factory-programmed device is ideal for automotive and industrial applications requiring high accuracy and small package size -

The ALS31000 from Allegro MicroSystems is a unidirectional linear Hall sensor IC targeted at automotive and industrial applications displacement and angular position sensing which require high-accuracy operation combined with a small package size.

The accuracy of this factory-programmed device is enhanced via end-of-line programming of the temperature coefficient to optimise both sensitivity and quiescent voltage output across the full operating temperature range.

The ALS31000 is a ratiometric Hall-effect sensor IC which provides a voltage output proportional to the applied magnetic field. The quiescent voltage output is adjusted to around 0.7 V and the output sensitivity is set to 2.4 mV/G.

Each BiCMOS monolithic circuit integrates a Hall element, temperature-compensating circuitry to reduce the intrinsic sensitivity drift of the Hall element, a small-signal high-gain amplifier, a clamped low-impedance output stage, and a proprietary dynamic offset cancellation technique. The features of this linear device make it ideal for use in automotive and industrial applications requiring high accuracy and operation across an extended temperature range from -40°C to +150°C.

Allegro’s ALS31000 sensor IC family is offered in the LH package style: a SOT-23W style, miniature, low-profile package for surface-mount applications. The package is lead (Pb) free, with 100% matt-tin leadframe plating.
