Nexperia ESD Design Engineers Guide Now Available

February 13, 2019 by Nexperia

Nexperia’s ESD Application Handbook includes details on datasheet parameters of ESD protection devices, ESD testing standards and TLP, principles of ESD protection, failure symptoms and application examples with an emphasis on communication bus and IVN interfaces.

Nexperia, the leading supplier of ESD protection diodes, has just published it’s ESD Application Handbook that draws on the company’s extensive knowledge and understanding of the topic. Burkhard Laue, Application Marketing Manager at Nexperia and key contributor to the design engineer’s guide states: “Electrostatic discharges (ESD) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) are key design challenges, especially when it comes to modern high-speed interfaces due to their susceptibility to ESD damage. However, getting the right balance of ESD protection and EMI filtering without impacting system performance is becoming increasingly complicated. Our new ESD guide includes many findings from work we have carried out on testing designs and failure analysis allowing designers to incorporate the most efficient ESD topology right from the start.”

Nexperia’s ESD Application Handbook includes details on datasheet parameters of ESD protection devices, ESD testing standards and TLP, principles of ESD protection, failure symptoms and application examples with an emphasis on communication bus and IVN interfaces. It also introduces a scientific selection process for ESD protection devices, overcoming the time-consuming trial and error testing that does not necessarily find the best solution.

A hard copy of the ESD guide can be ordered from the Nexperia website.
